No Kid Hungry's Breakfast Design Lab

No Kid Hungry's Program Innovation team invites districts to apply for the Breakfast Design Lab - an accelerator focused on finding, testing, and launching new ways to improve student breakfast experience. We are looking for innovations that improve students' experience with school breakfast and ultimately increase participation. Examples include reimbursable meals that emphasize student choice; inclusive and welcoming line or space design; distributed and flexible breakfast service throughout the school; student or caregiver-focused communication and outreach; and more.
Five districts will be selected to join the Breakfast Design Lab by January 2025. The Lab will consist of a structured series of 90-minute Zoom meetings focused on refining the idea for improving breakfast experience, launching and evaluating a prototype, and planning for expansion. One in-person workshop will enable participants to brainstorm with peers and pressure test their plans. In between each call, participants will advance their projects (e.g., planning for test/prototype, impact measurement, sustainability, etc.) and come to each call prepared to share successes, challenges, and questions with the group. The Lab will take place over 6-9 months. The initial form is due by November 27th and the full application is due December 6th.
